Hi, nice work. Danny 00:57, 4 January 2006 (UTC)

You are now a (temp) sysop here. Please keep me posted about how things are going. Danny 09:21, 10 January 2006 (UTC)

Could you please write a stub http://tpi.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kur%C3%B3w - just a few sentences based on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kur%C3%B3w ? Only 2 -5 sentences enough. Please. Pietras1988 16:34, 2 February 2006 (UTC)

I would love to if I were given this request in other language wikipedias, but as you can see TPI wikipedia is very small now and it'd be pointless to translate it here. We don't even have article for Poland yet. Kurów can wait a little longer. Caffelice 23:34, 2 February 2006 (UTC)
OK. Pietras1988 16:41, 20 February 2006 (UTC)
Now you can do it? Mosovce are already... Pietras1988 TALK 15:59, 6 April 2007 (UTC)

Bonjour Caffelice,

Je suis Milaiklainim; c'est moi qui ait demandé l'ouverture de la TP-wikipedia il a deux ans. J'ai aussi ecrit la plupart des 100 premiers articles.

Just a few words to thank you for all what you do for this Wikipedia. I look at it everyday to see if there are new articles. Great! Thank you very much.

I worked a lot at the beginning but I have a new job and my time has got scarce. Anyway I will try to step in again.

Best, --Milaiklainim 00:31, 11 February 2006 (UTC)

Thank you for your encouragement, and welcome back! :) And I couldn't have started working on this if your articles weren't here; I'm still learning dispela naispela tokples. I am not editing as much as I did last month, because I'm a college student and I have exams these days, but I'll be back in a few days. Caffelice 04:08, 11 February 2006 (UTC)

Mošovce senisim

Hi there :-)

I have a favor to ask. I have translated an article (1-sentence stub) about my home town into Tok Pisin, but since I don't speak the language and was only using a dictionary, there are surely errors. Therefore I just wanted to kindly ask you, to pls. have a look at the article Mošovce, and correct the language.

Thank you so much :-))

Temporary administrator request senisim

The Tok Pisin Wikipedia and Wiktionary are very worthwhile efforts, and you are to be applauded for your work.  But I think you'll agree that both have a very real need to be brought up to date and extensively revised.  For example, the left frame on the main page needs the translations to be completed.  For another, it appears that virtually all the articles listed are either one-line placeholders or ultra-short articles written by students of Tok Pisin, and with no relation to Papua New Guinea and the Melanesian islands where the use of Tok Pisin is endemic.  And that's only the beginning.

I'd become interested in learning Tok Pisin about twenty years ago when I was aboard an oceanographic research ship doing research in Indonesia and the Philippines, with a potential U.S. Navy contract to do research off Papua New Guinea.  The contract never materialized, so I put the Mahalic "Introduction to New Guinea Pidgin" aside and continued to concentrate on reading and speaking Indonesian instead.  Having grown up in Hawai'i, I recently discovered the Hawai'ian Wikipedia, which is basically a shell with very few actual articles. Unlike the Tok Pisin Wikipedia however, the Hawai'ian Wikipedia has a well structured framework that the TPI Wikipedia would do well to consider.  In particular, the objective of the Hawai'ian Wikipedia is to have all articles written by native or learned speakers of the language.  That's a rather large task, considering that there are less than 5,000 native speakers of the Hawai'ian language, Hawai'ian and non-Hawai'ian alike.

I've only just started looking around, but after only a short time I've found that there are a quite a number of potential sources for well-written, authentic Tok Pisin articles, relevant articles written by learned or native speakers of the language.  And I've found several sources that have interesting photographs available as well.  All are related to Papua New Guinea and Melanesia.

As a user, I can only go so far in making changes to the encyclopedia and dictionary, so I'm going to request permission for temporary Administrator status for the Tok Pisin Wikipedia.  My experience with Wikipedia is fairly recent, but I've written a small number of articles in the English and Simple English Wikipedias, made a correction of fact in an article in the German Wikipedia, added some definitions to the English Wiktionary, and listed a plagiarized article in the English Wikipedia as an article for deletion.  I have extensive professional (i.e., paid) experience in software development and programming, Internet and corporate intranet web design and server maintenance, and many years in technical writing.

I'd like to use my technical abilities to help make the Tok Pisin a useful resource for the Tok Pisin community.  Since you are listed as the Tok Pisin sysop, I need your approval before I can request and be granted temporary administrator status.  I hope we can work together to help improve the Tok Pisin Wikipedia.  Thanks/best regards. Hi. I've tagged this page for speedy deletion, since it appears to be nonsense. If you'd like to check it? Thanks. Aridd 00:33, 30 January 2008 (UTC)

Your admin status senisim

Hello. I'm a steward. A new policy regarding the removal of "advanced rights" (administrator, bureaucrat, etc.) was adopted by community consensus recently. According to this policy, the stewards are reviewing administrators' activity on wikis with no inactivity policy.   You meet the inactivity criteria (no edits and no log actions for 2 years) on 'tpiwiki, where you are an administrator. Since that wiki does not have its own administrators' rights review process, the global one applies.   If you want to keep your rights, you should inform the community of the wiki about the fact that the stewards have sent you this information about your inactivity. If the community has a discussion about it and then wants you to keep your rights, please contact the stewards at m:Stewards' noticeboard, and link to the discussion of the local community, where they express their wish to continue to maintain the rights, and demonstrate a continued requirement to maintain these rights.   We stewards will evaluate the responses. If there is no response at all after approximately one month, we will proceed to remove your administrative rights. In cases of doubt, we will evaluate the responses and will refer a decision back to the local community for their comment and review. If you have any questions, please contact us on m:Stewards' noticeboard.   Best regards, Rschen7754 04:03, 13 Julai 2014 (UTC)Reply
